Description
DescriptionThe Westfalen Colliery was started by August Kathage at Thagoona, (Westfalen No. 1). From 1944 the No. 2 Mine was located at 209 Riverview Road, Dinmore. August died in 1948 and the Colliery passed to his sons, Bill, Arthur, Otto, and Augie who left the mine shortly after. The other three brothers continued to operate the Dinmore Mine until 1970. In 1974 the mine was flooded. Work commenced at the Westfalen Mine No. 3, Collingwood Park in 1967 and continued to 1987. References (offline)Ipswich City Council 'Heritage Study, 1992'
