DescriptionThe Historical Marker for the Stone Kerbing near St Joseph's Church in gardens between the service road and the main road was installed on 5 March 2015.

Plaque text:
During the Great Depression, local governments and Main Roads played a significant role in unemployment relief. Broad median strips lined with limestone kerbing separate the rows of traditional houses either side of this road.

This laying of limestone kerbing is a recurring theme in Ipswich streetscapes. The Waterworks Road stone kerbing and the footpath widening in Simmons Road was completed in 1938.
