Description
DescriptionThe Historical Marker for the Stone Kerbing at Redbank was installed on the footpath outside 60 Brisbane Road, Redbank.
Plaque installed:
During the Great Depression, local governments and Main Roads played a significant role in unemployment relief. In 1935 the Moreton Shire Council proposed a £10,000 scheme to construct footpaths along the main road between Bundamba and Redbank.
This remnant kerbing and guttering from an early road demonstrates the skill used in preparing the stones and the lasting quality of the workmanship. The sandstone is believed to have been quarried locally from the Woogaroo Sandstone Quarry.
