Hi
Very interested in the history of British Motors Ipswich. In the sixties I was the commercials producer for the then Channel 0 - and British Motors was a customer. We had one rioutous commercial following the Melbourne Cup broadcast where the British Motors owner left in a beer barrel (he had done his shirt doing Melbourne Cup deals - was the line) His name was Tony - and I cannot remember his last name ... Can you help

Many of the images in Picture Ipswich have been kindly provided by the community. Along the way gems have come to light that are unable to be identified or important information is missing and because of this we need the community’s help.

We are always looking for photos depicting the life and times of Ipswich. This photo was taken of a painted sign on the side of a building in Brisbane Street, and was revealed when the building next door was demolished. If you have any information on the ‘Better Motor Cars’ company or if you have any photos of this business in operation that you wish to share with the community, please contact the Digital Archivist on 3810 7272 or email
