DescriptionCopy of image from another studio. Benjamin Cribb was born on November 7, 1807. He originally owned a grocery business in Poole, England, before coming to the Moreton Bay District on the 'Chasely' in 1849. In 1854 he joined in partnership with John Clarke Foote, establishing the business of Cribb and Foote. He was an ardent Congregationalist and was a Sunday school superintendent, as well as being a driving force behind the establishment of the Ipswich Boy’s Grammar School. Benjamin Cribb died of a stroke on March 11, 1874. Benjamin’s first marriage was on the Isle of Man in 1839 to Elizabeth Bridson.
