DescriptionThe band was formed by Messrs Hancock Bros., Saw-millers in 1890 with instruments to the value of £100 purchased by Messrs Hancock. Their first performance was in May 1891, when the first Eight-hour Day demonstration was held in Ipswich. After name changes to Town Band, and City Band it became the Vice-Regal Band in 1904.
