DescriptionAdvertising at front of building for a function with ABC-4QG radio on Thursday 14 June. 4QG started broadcasting in Brisbane in 1932.
There is window signage on the left hand windows for P. L. Cardew & Simpson, Solicitors, and on the right for C. W. L. Heiner and Hooper, Solicitors.
The building was originally the School of Arts. The Certificate of Title was transferred from the School of Arts to the Ipswich Town Council on 24 April 1894, and then the building became the Ipswich Town Hall. It is now the Ipswich Art Gallery.
The clock tower containing a four-dial clock was erected in 1879. After many years of service, the clock was removed from the tower and is now located in the tower of the former Council Chambers at Sandgate. References (offline)Ipswich Municipal Centenary by Leslie E. Slaughter, 1960:57
