DescriptionWhat is now The Art Gallery (centre building) on Brisbane Street, was originally the School of Arts building and later became the Ipswich Town Hall. The clock tower containing a four-dial clock was erected in 1879. The Certificate of Title was transferred from the School of Arts to the Ipswich Town Council on 24 April 1894. The building then became the Ipswich Town Hall. After many years of service, the clock was removed from the tower and is now located in the tower of the former Council Chambers at Sandgate.
