Description

DescriptionNewtown State School opened, 1 July 1882, as the population increased there was a need for a new school, and Newtown was replaced by Silkstone State School, officially opening in December 1915. The buildings at the time were regarded as the best in the state and of 'the very latest design'. On 20 September 2009, three buildings were destroyed by fire, one being one of the original school buildings.
