A. W. Cole were shoe repairers and boot makers located in Downs Street, North Ipswich. Cole's residence was in Ferguson Street, North Ipswich (1910).

The company was still trading in the 1920s but would later (1930s) be owned by Mr Maber.

Arthur Cole (Cole-Clarke) (b. 7/06/1879) was five when he left London on the 'Quetta' ship on 17 December 1884, with his family. They arrived in Brisbane on 10 February 1885.
