DescriptionDignitaries: Arthur Kathage (Westfalen), 'Bluey' Miller (Queensland Colliery Employees Union, President), Ken Campbell (Managing Director, Riverside Coal Transport) and Bill Kathage (Managing Director, Westfalen). The Westfalen Colliery was started by August Kathage at Thagoona, (Westfalen No. 1). From 1944 the No. 2 Mine was located at Dinmore. August died in 1948 and the Colliery passed to his sons, Bill, Arthur, Otto and Augie who left the mine shortly after. The other three brothers continued to operate the Dinmore Mine until 1970. In 1974 the mine was flooded. Work commenced at the Wesfalen Mine No. 3, Collingwood Park in 1967 and continued until 1987.
