The address reads: To Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of York. May it Please Your Royal Highnesses. The Mayor and Aldermen on behalf of the Citizens desire in welcoming you to the City of Ipswich to express to your Royal Highnesses our keen appreciation of your goodness in giving the citizens an opportunity of meeting and expressing to you their continued loyalty and affection to the Throne and Person of your illustrious father, His Majesty the King. We wish your stay could have been longer so that something of the great resources of this portion of the fair State of Queensland might have been shown you. From unexplored territory to its present position has occupied less than one hundred years. Your interest in migration prompts us to assure you that equally satisfactory results await all those who face the situation with the real and the earnestness displayed by the founders of this community. As the efforts of the individuals count in the making of a community as the efforts of its component parts tell in the making of an Empire. The wonderful achievements of our kinsfolk overseas ever command our unbounded admiration, and we desire to convey to you, as a Representative of Empire, our keen appreciation of the ever watchful care and helpfulness extended to us. Your presence amongst us strengthens our great desire faithfully to fulfil the small park which falls in our lot. We pray that your trip may be a most enjoyable one, and that you will be permitted to return home in safety after your labours are concluded. Again cordially welcoming you to our City.
