Description
DescriptionAuction catalogue with notations of amounts paid for items (thought to be by owner of catalogue). Built in 1891 by Lewis Thomas, the building had three main storeys, a basement, tower, library and billiard room. Lewis Thomas had a coal mine at Blackstone and was widely known as the 'Coal King' by 1891. He became a Member of the Legislative Assembly in 1893. The building was bought by Rylance Collieries in 1934, along with the coal rights. It was partially dismantled.
