Description
DescriptionText and audio of 15 minute interview where Lyle talks initially about moving items to a higher level and moving his car to higher ground as he had five feet of water through his garage. Then on the 12th January he arranged a helicopter to fly around so he could obtain photographs of the flood in Ipswich and further on to Brisbane, where he recalls the eerie sensation of viewing the empty streets. He talks about visiting Goodna and seeing bobcats entering businesses at St Ives and tearing everything out. He relates many of the interesting sights that he saw and items that he photographed such as a boat up a tree and seeing 20 people go into a house and come out carrying a large log. He recalls mud everywhere, and an instance where he slipped in the mud and rescued his camera but broke his ribs and had to then drive home covered in the stinking mud. He comments that there was a pretty positive feel and that the Army did an amazing job in the back of Goodna. . The floods occurred in January and peaked on Wednesday 12 January. More detailed information can be found in the local newspapers and media.
