DescriptionThought to be a Weaving Loom at the Ipswich Woollen Co, Joyce Street, East Ipswich. In 1861, the Ipswich Cotton Company was established at East Ipswich. In 1907, the business was taken over by the Joyce Brothers who in 1913 converted it to a woollen mill. The Queensland Woollen Manufacturing Company established at North Ipswich in 1877 and purchased the East Ipswich Woollen Mill. The two mills became known as Australian Fabric Manufacturers. The manufacturing of woollen fabric was carried out at the East Ipswich site, and the North Ipswich site held the head office.
