DescriptionPortrait of Mr William Frederick Ruhno of Rosewood. Mr Ruhno was born in Condamine and later moved to Rosewood where he served as a manger of Mr J. L. Frederich’s store located opposite the Rosewood Railway Station. In 1907 Mr Ruhno purchased Frederich’s store and went into a partnership with Mr E. A. Maher, until 1922 when the business was transferred to the sole ownership of Mr Ruhno. The store was known as the ‘General Supply Company’ and traded in machinery, furniture, drapery, millinery and other goods. After William Ruhno’s death in 1938 ownership of the store passed to his only son Norman who operated the business for a number of years. The premise was later destroyed by fire in the 1970s. As well as being a well-known businessman William Ruhno was also a member of the Queensland Volunteers, a foundation member of the Hunting Club, chairman of the Rosewood Shire Council, and a keen tennis player References (offline)Queensland Times 06-09-1938; 08-09-1938
