Description

DescriptionAt this time, the showgrounds were at the rear of the Farmer's Hall. The then Lieutenant-Governor of Queensland, Sir Arthur Morgan, is in the first sulky to inspect the Guard of Honour, mounted for this visit. Real rifles were used for this event and put away immediately after the ceremony. Before this, wooden replicas were used in parades. The cadets practised under Lt. Leopold R. Steele (Teacher and Officer in Charge). Major J. Watkins (Head teacher at Rosewood) was in charge of No. 3 Battalion of Commonwealth Cadet Corps, the Rosewood section of 'G' Company, with Headquarters at Warwick. Some of the cades are: L. R. Steele, J. Watkins, B. Coveney, H. Tatton, M. O'Sullivan, J. Sloane, D. Sloane, W. Boughen. Bugler at rear of the rank on the right is C Thompson. Other cadets may be: H. McGeary, John Brown, Ned Hogan, Will Berlin, W.D.C. Blackmore, Arthur Tunstall, John (or Paul) Lobegeiger, Ern Stenzel and Sam Waight. Major J. Watkins (1904-1910), Head Teacher, came from Tallegalla School. He was an officer, first in the Volunteer Defence Force, later in the Queensland Teacher's Corps.
